Pro Bono Program
We believe in your work. Let's prove it together.
Every week, advocates, researchers, and community organizations are fighting for safer streets without the resources to collect the data they need. We set aside time and equipment to help. This is how you apply.
Apply for a pro bono partnership request today
A note on our pro bono work. We take on a limited number of pro bono projects at a time. Short-term deployments for simple counts are easier to accommodate. Longer projects involving data hosting, custom dashboards, and analytics require more planning. Fill out the form and tell us about your situation.

Pro bono projects range from simple 1-day pedestrian counts to multi-week deployments with live dashboards and community displays. Each one starts with a conversation.
What's Available
Two kinds of pro bono support
Depending on your project and our capacity, we offer two levels of pro bono engagement. Tell us what you need and we’ll figure out what’s possible.
Standard
A temporary deployment for basic roadway counts. Ideal for advocacy groups, grant applications, or community awareness projects that need solid primary data fast.
- Device deployment at your location
- Pedestrian, cyclist, and vehicle counts
- Speed data
- On-device dashboard access
- Data export for your use
Extended
A deeper engagement for ongoing or complex projects. Involves more planning and coordination. We take on fewer of these, but when we do, we go all in.
- Everything in Standard
- Extended deployment period
- Data hosting and management
- Custom dashboard building
- Custom hardware if needed
- Analytics and interpretation support
Ideas and Inspiration
What could you do with roadway data?
Not sure if your project is a good fit? Here are some of the ways organizations like yours have used the Traffic Monitor to make a real difference.
Prove a street is dangerous
Support a grant application
Funders want data. A real count from your community is the difference between a promising idea and a funded project.
Evaluate a program
Deploy before and after a new crosswalk, bike lane, or traffic intervention. Measure what actually changed and share the results.
Make the case to city council
Walk into that meeting with numbers from your own streets, not a national study. Local primary data is harder to dismiss.
Build community awareness
Add a live display board to share real-time counts with your neighborhood. When people see the numbers, the conversation changes.
Research and education
Use real roadway data for academic research, class projects, or community education. Fully open source, fully documented.

Tell us about your project
We review every application personally. There’s no automated filter here. Fill out as much detail as you can so we can understand your situation and figure out how we can help.

Data is your power
Not eligible for pro bono work but still need data?
The Traffic Monitor is available to purchase at a pre-order rate during our launch window. If your organization has a budget for equipment, this is the most cost-effective way to own your roadway data permanently, with no recurring fees and no vendor dependency.
